So Jon and I have had a positive pregnancy test for 4 days now and we are BUSTING at the seams! We decided that we were going to tell ONLY our parents tonight so that we wouldn’t “accidentally” run in to my Mom at our doctor’s appointment tomorrow. I found a super cute poem on the internet that is written from “Baby Newton” to his/her Grandparents. So we decided to print off the poem in pink and blue paragraphs and buy some flowers to give to our moms when we told them the big news! We went to my Mom’s first. My Dad was on the road in his semi and wouldn’t be back until 2 days later so I decided we should tell Mom and then call my Dad. I walked in with the flowers and envelope and she said “Are those for Grandma’s Birthday?” (Today was Grandma Liz’s birthday). I said “No, they are for you!” Then I handed her the poem. She read about 3 lines before she figured out what it was, skipped to the end, read “Love Baby Newton” and started crying! Of course she gave me a big hug and said “I knew it wouldn’t be long! I’m so excited for you all, I know this is exactly what you’ve been wanting even though you wouldn’t tell me anything!” So then I immediately called Dad. We chatted for a minute and then I said “Well, Jon and I wanted to call and tell you some big news.” Dad said, “No way!” I laughed and said, “Do you think you know what it is?” He said, “You’re Pregnant!” I started laughing and said “Yes!” Then Dad said, “Well, I knew it wouldn’t be long! Congratulations! Is Jon excited?” I said, “Yes, he’s ecstatic!”
Unfortunately Jon’s Dad was working that night so we decided to go tell them the news the following day after our doctor’s appointment. Details to come…….

We have a precious little secret, and it's too hard to keep!!! June 7, 2010
My Mom, Lindsay, Abby Humphrey and I have all been walking or riding bikes every night so far this summer! We figured it was a great way to hang out and get a little exercise! We’ve know for 3 days now and I am dying to tell someone I am PREGNANT! Since I was nervous about everything to come and how to tell my parents I decided to tell my sister-in-law Lindsay about the big news! That night as we were walking the 2 of us got a little bit ahead of Mom and Abby (they were pushing Jace and Valli in their strollers so they were moving a little slower!). So I looked at Lindsay and said “Well, I have some questions for you.” She said, “Ok.” I said, “How did you choose your OBGYN when you found out you were pregnant?” She said, “Well, I talked to some of my friends and then Mom and I started calling some places and ………..WAIT! Do you have something to tell me?!?!?!?!?” I started smiling and said “Wellllll, I’m pregnant!” She got tears in her eyes and said “Oh my goodness, I’m so happy!” She immediately text Jon and congratulated him to which he said “Finally, someone knows!” So then I had Lindsay help me decide how to tell our parents! She knew she wasn’t going to be able to keep the secret from my Brother so I told him the big news and he was very excited as well. Hoping for a boy, so Baby Jace has a playmate! We will see!

No Mexico, it's POSITIVE! June 5, 2010
Our First Home...Where it ALL Began!
It was Saturday, June 5th and Jon and I were enjoying our first week of summer vacation! We had been looking into another trip to Mexico (we loved our honeymoon) for about 3 months now and decided today was the day to finally book the trip! Jon was going golfing with some friends for the day so he told me to book the trip while he was gone. While I was sitting at the computer I started feeling a little queezy so I ran to the bathroom. While I was in there, I figured I might as well take a test. I honestly didn't believe it would show anything, because at this point I had taken probably 8 tests in the last 3 months, all of which were negative. I usually lay the test on the counter as I wait the 2 minutes for it to process so I began brushing my teeth. After about 20 seconds I glanced down and there was already a "+" sign!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!!!!!! I was so emotional that I had to go sit down on our bed to catch my breath!
Jon had just left about 20 minutes before and I immediately starting thinking of ways to tell him. Part of me just wanted to call and blurt out I'M PREGNANT! But I decided against it. So, I hung around the house until he returned at 2. I was laying on our bed when he came in from golfing and he immediately asked "Did you book the trip?" I responded "No." He proceeded to head toward the shower asking "Why not?" I procrastinated and let him go ahead and jump in the shower because he was complaining of a headache. After a few minutes, I went in there and said "Well, I think maybe we should save our money". To which Jon said, "Why? We have plenty saved". Then I said "Well, because I'm pregnant!" through tears, of course! He ripped back the shower curtain and said "WHAT????!!!" He began hugging me and said "Carly, this is exactly what we wanted!" As I continued to cry tears of joy I said "I know, I know!" Jon immediately suggested we go buy another pregnancy test to make sure it was true. So when the 2nd one showed POSITIVE again, we knew it had to be! He wanted to call everyone he knew to share the great news, but I thought it was a little too soon! We went to dinner that night to celebrate and then came home to bask in the glory of our fabulous news! What a great day it was!

The Making of Baby Newton!!!!! May 2010
"For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him" Samuel 1:27
So if you know anything about me then you know that I LOVE CHILDREN! I have told Jon from day one that his calling in life was to be a basketball coach, and my calling was to be a MOMMY! Although we would have been perfectly okay with starting a family from day 1 of our marriage we decided to wait until we were a little more settled! We were married September 22, 2007 and moved into our first home together! We both began our careers as Special Education Teachers and immediately started on our Master's. We completed our Master's in August 2009 (Whew, YAY!) and immediately starting thinking BABIES (if not a few months earlier)! We had just found out that my brother and his wife were expecting their 1st baby so we decided to hold off for a bit so we wouldn't steal their thunder! In December, I stopped taking my birth control with the intention of letting it get out of my system before trying for a baby. When our nephew, Jace, arrived in early March, it was GAME OVER! We went home that week and printed off a fertility calendar and decided it was time! Shortly after, Jon downloaded the BabyMed fertility App on his iphone which helped us to see when we were most likely to conceive! Jon and I were both prepared for the road ahead. We tried to put little emphasis on getting pregnant in hopes that it would help if we weren't stressed. We figured that since meeting each other in elementary school, falling in love, and getting married had been so easy, having a baby may not be. April came with a negative pregnancy test....Jon was devastated and immediately asked "what's wrong with us". May came and yet another negative pregnancy test. Then we were on our first week of summer break in June and this time the pregnancy test read POSITIVE!!!!
