29 weeks, WOOHOO! November 26, 2010

Today I am 29 weeks!  Yay!  Only 11 weeks to go, not that I'm counting :)  Things have really started changing lately!  I have almost constant uncomfortableness in my left rib cage after eating, heartburn is terrible, I don't sleep well at all, and I CANNOT get cool!  I sweat about 95% of the day!  And since I LOVE turtlenecks, sweaters, and scarfs in the winter, it's really putting a damper on my wardrobe!  I go back to the doctor for my 2 week checkup on Thursday and I'm sure my weight gain will be impressive after all these Thanksgiving meals!  But, I've decided I'm pregnant and I'm going to enjoy it, who cares how much weight I gain, right?!?!
It's hard for me to get ready in the mornings because I usually can't get my hair blow dried for sweating so much!  At night time I start off in PJ's but by morning I am usually down to a t-shirt, if that!  I make Jon sleep with the fan going and sometimes I even open our bedroom window at night so I know he is about to freeze, but he just pulls the covers up to his nose!  I've had a sinus infection for about a month and I do nothing but cough all night long.  I know Jon is getting as little sleep as I am but when I offer to go to the couch he says no.  There was even one night that I had such a bad coughing fit that he woke up and rolled over and starting patting my back like I was a baby he was trying to burp!  I guess he thought I was choking!  Gotta love him!
I eat TUMS like they are going out of style!  My heartburn has been so bad that if the old wives tales are true, Baby Jameson will come out with hair down to his rear!  I've never experienced heartburn until pregnancy and I hope it goes away when the baby comes!
Baby Jameson is moving CONSTANTLY and it's so neat!  It's gotten to the point where I don't even have to raise my shirt or put my hand on my belly to feel it, you can just see him kicking on the outside of my belly!  He is most active after eating and when it's time for bed so that's usually when we get the best shows!  He also decides to play in the middle of the night too so sometimes he wakes Mommy up with all his moving!
I can't sleep!  This is huge for me because I have always been the best sleeper ever!  I wake up several times a night either to potty, to roll to my other side, because of discomfort, because I'm HOT, because of heartburn, or because Baby is moving.  And frequently, it takes me hours to get comfortable again and fall back asleep!  I've been pretty tired lately, but I know my precious Baby will be worth it!
Finally, my belly feels soooo tight!  I can't imagine what it is going to feel like over the next 2 months!  I basically take a bath in lotion everyday in hopes to prevent stretchmarks and to get some relief!  With all that said, I'm ready for the next 11 weeks!  Let the  nursery painting and baby registering begin!

SOOO THANKFUL! November 25, 2010

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Today, I am so thankful for the many gifts God has given me!

First and foremost I am thankful for you, Lord, for without you, I would have nothing!  My faith in you keeps me going daily and I know you will always be by my side!  I am thankful to have been raised Catholic in a tiny church where my entire family sat in one pew every single Sunday my entire life.  I am thankful that I was baptized, made my first communion, my first confirmation, and married my best friend in your sacred home!  I am thankful that my Husband willingly and anxiously joins me for church each Sunday even though he was not raised in a church.  His outlook on life and faith has changed drastically! For the first 3 years of our marriage, Jon and I attended Christ the King in Madisonville since it was closer to our home.  Now that we have moved back to Slaughters we have started going back to my childhood church with my entire family again and it has been a blessing!  I have missed my church!
Second, I am so thankful for my Husband!  I could write a story about this amazing man, but I'll keep it brief for all you readers!  When I was in just the 7th grade I fell in love with "The boy across the street" (literally) and haven't looked back since!  We dated for 10 years straight (through middle school, high school and college) before marrying!  We've been married for 3 years and I can now say (at the age of 25) that I have spent OVER HALF of my life with Jon Newton!  We have had so much fun together and every day just brings more joy!  It's funny how much more you notice when you are expecting!  I stop daily and think "Wow, he is really amazing".  I wake up everyday to him telling me that I look beautiful or pretty or amazing and that means SOOOO much at a time like now when I feel like a stuffed sausage!  He is there every day to send me sweet emails at work, even if it's just to say "Good morning sweetheart, I miss you" or "How's my Mommy and Baby?" and it's the little things like that which make me so thankful to have him!  I know that he couldn't be more excited about the arrival of our little Jameson and he says a hundred times a day that he can't wait!  He truly is the most amazing gift and I thank God for him daily!
Third, I am so thankful for my parents!  I think about all the responsibilities that a baby brings and all of the things that my parents did for me growing up that I will, in turn, do for my children.  It almost seems impossible to think about all of the things they've done for me and my brother.  Everything has always been about us and I know that if I am half the parent they both were, Baby Jameson will be just fine!  My brother and I have been out of our parent's house for 3 years now and just when they were starting to get used to it being the 2 of them, Jon and I come and move back in!  But they wouldn't have had it any other way!  We were honestly going to get an apartment and Mom and Dad insisted that we move in with them and save our money!  We are so grateful for all that they have done and continue to do for us!  While I'm talking about my parents I would like to also say how thankful I am for my brother Jared, sister-in-law Lindsay and nephew Jace!  It means so much to have a brother I can talk to and see daily, a sister-in-law I can complain to, go shopping with, and hang out with, and a nephew I can steal ALL kinds of kisses from!  Jace has truly prepared me for motherhood and every time I look at him I think "How could I possibly love anything more?"  But Lindsay says "Just wait until you have your own and you'll know!"
I am so thankful for my In-Laws!  Ronnie and Ann are ALL that I could ask for in a mother and father-in-law and more!  They, too, do so much for Jon and I and even suggested we move in with them, but I decided it would be a little easier for me to live with my Mom during pregnancy so that I don't hurt any one's feelings if I start getting a little moody! I would feel much better about snapping at my own Mom than Jon's!  It's great to spend time at basketball games with them and live so close to them again!  And they couldn't be more excited about the new addition to our family!  I am also so thankful for a wonderful sister-in-law, Christy, and 2 nephews, Logan and Zane!  Christy is so easy to talk to and get advice from!  Jon looks at Logan like he is his own and I know Logan looks up to Jon too.  And Zane makes me laugh every time I see him!  He is such a character!  They would do anything for us and we are so thankful for them!
I am so thankful for my extended family!  I have amazing grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in my life!  My family has always been my #1 priority and that will never change!  I love nothing more than family time, which is why Holidays are my favorite time!
I am so thankful for my amazing friends!  It is so great to have friends I can tell anything to and can trust with all my heart.  There are so many times in my life that I can remember a friend doing or saying something that completely brightened my day and I am so thankful for that!  Childhood friends, sorority sisters, coworkers, adulthood friends, etc, I am so blessed to have such amazing people to share my life with!
I am so thankful for my job!  I have enjoyed every minute of being at Sebree Elementary this year and I thank God for finding a way to get me there!  I love my kids and being able to help them in so many different ways!  It's amazing to know that I have made a difference in their life!

God is GREAT!  Thank you, again, for my many gifts!

“Take My Breath Away” – Too bad this isn’t a sexy love scene from Top Gun! November 22, 2010

I’m pretty sure Baby Jameson has been sitting on Mommy’s lungs for the last week!  I have noticed BIG changes in the last few days including shortness of breath and increased heartburn!  It feels like Jameson is sitting way up high (potentially in my rib cage) and even when I’m sitting it is uncomfortable to breathe!  I’ve had heartburn for quite some time now but I think it is present about 90% of the day now!  I’ve also been sooooo HOT!  The last 2 Sundays in church I thought I was going to suffocate!  I frequently drive to and from work with my windows down or the AC on and I am constantly opening the windows at work and running a fan!  Ah, gotta love pregnancy hormones!
Other things I have noticed is that even though it feels like Jameson is up in my throat, every time I walk up the steps from my downstairs classrooms I feel like he is going to fall right out between my legs by the time I get to the top!  I can only assume this will get worse as I get closer to the due date!  Oh, and not surprising, I have to potty about 100 times a day!

Meaning Behind the Name! November 20, 2010

So, although choosing Baby Newton’s name has been quite the process I had to write a post dedicated to the meaning behind the name Jameson, which is what we currently call Baby.  Jon and I have both lost one of our grandfathers and coincidentally both of their names were James.  One day when I was putting in family names to get suggestions for baby names I received “Jameson” after typing in James.  I thought it was perfect that our baby boy be named after both of our grandfathers!
First, if you know me, you know that the MOST difficult time in my life was when I lost my Papaw James.  He was, simply put, the most amazing man ever!  Everyone called him Papaw, whether he was their Papaw or not!  I grew up living about 100 yards behind my Papaw and Grandma Liz so needless to say I saw them almost every day.  I spent many days helping Papaw in the garden, painting around the farm, shooting pigeons off his Martin bird boxes (yes, I know), riding in the tracker, going to Lucy’s cafĂ© for a burger, and much more!!!  As long as I can remember Papaw suffered from chronic bronchitis and emphysema due to smoking for 50 years and his time in the war.  While I was still young it was manageable, but around the time I was finishing high school he started having a very difficult time.  Papaw’s health continued to deteriorate and in the end he was suffering, not living.  We lost him on August 20, 2008.  He wasn’t suffering anymore though, so that was a blessing.  The months and year ahead was very difficult for me.  I had never lost someone close to me and I was 23 years old.  I thank God for giving me such an amazing Grandfather and so many wonderful years with him!  The day before Jon and I found out the gender of our baby I went and visited Papaw at the cemetery.  I talked to him about the baby and told him I was leaving everything in his hands.  I promised him that if we had a boy he would be his namesake.  So, the next day, we found out we were having a BOY and I knew it was meant to be!

Second, Jon had an amazing Papaw named James as well!   Jon was only in the 3rd grade when his Papaw passed so he has a hard time remembering a lot about him.  Some of the things he remembers are that he went to his Papaw’s house every Sunday for lunch with the entire family.  The grandkids would play softball, baseball, hide-and-seek, or tag in the back yard after lunch.  He also remembers going to Owensboro with his Papaw to a place that had live Oldies music and dancing.  His Papaw loved it there!  Jon drinks A LOT (emphasize A LOT) of milk and he said his Papaw always told him where milk came from every single time he saw Jon drinking milk (because he drank so much more than the other grandkids), even though he had told him a hundred times before!  Jon says he won’t tell you where his Papaw said Chocolate Milk comes from, HAHA!  Jon’s Papaw had lung cancer and fought a hard battle.  He passed when Jon was in the 3rd grade and was just 9 years old.  Although his time with his Papaw was short, he absolutely adored him and still talks about him frequently.  We have both been so blessed to have wonderful grandfathers and hope that Baby Jameson realizes how special he is to be named after both of them!

WELCOME 3rd and FINAL TRIMESTER!!!!!! November 19, 2010

Yes, that’s right, it’s here!  Let the 3rd trimester begin!  YAY!  We officially have 12 short weeks left until Baby Jameson is FINALLY here!!!!!  According to my pregnancy book the 3rd trimester can be summed up as Tiring and Uncomfortable, YIPPEE!  I will likely experience the following:
-Backaches
-Shortness of breath
-Heartburn
-Spider veins, varicose veins, and hemorrhoids
-Continued breast growth (we all know I DON’T need this!)
-Frequent urination
-Braxton Hicks Contractions (warm-ups for the real thing)
-Weight gain
-Swelling
-Other “gross” stuff I refuse to put on the blog!
Let the fun times begin!  I know it doesn’t sound like much fun ahead but I know that Baby Jameson will be worth every minute of the misery!  I can’t wait to have him here and watch him grow!

Jameson Survived the Virus! November 17, 2010

I left work early Tuesday because I had the stomach virus L I babysat Jace Monday and he had diarrhea. Jared and Lindsay both came home from work Monday with the virus and I guess it was my turn Tuesday L I started throwing up at work and it continued throughout the day. My doctor called in a prescription for Phenergan which helped me later that evening. I honestly felt like I was going to die! Completely lifeless! We became a little worried about baby because I was having stomach cramps and my doctor said that it could be contractions due to dehydration. If it was contractions then I COULD be in labor and would need to come in to the hospital to get fluids via IV to stop the contractions. This was VERY scary considering I am only 28 weeks pregnant!!!!!!! We watched my belly very closely all night and decided I was not having contractions that the cramps were from all of the vomiting and coughing. WHEW!
I woke up this morning feeling better and not throwing up but now had diarrhea.  I stayed home from work again and laid in bed until about 1:00.  I had a doctor’s appointment already scheduled and I didn’t want to miss so Mom went ahead and took me.  Today was the yucky diabetes screening.  Since all I had eaten was a ½ a can of chicken noodle soup in the last 2 days I wasn’t excited about drinking a glass full of orange liquid, but I did it without hesitation within about 2 minutes!
After the glucola drink I headed to see my doctor.  I gained 1 whole pound since last month which brings my total pregnancy weight gain to 5 pounds!  The doctor didn’t seem too worried at this point.  She measured my belly and said it’s right on track.  We also talked about Pediatricians for the baby and discussed “counting kicks” which I now have to start recording twice a day.  At least 6 kicks in 1 hour is what I should expect, which I don’t think will be any trouble, because Baby Jameson usually kicks about 20 times in 20 minutes!  He’s quite the active little fella!  Dr. Ott asked several questions about my bout with the stomach virus and concluded that everything looked and sounded good.  As long as I stay hydrated I shouldn’t have to worry about the contractions.  Thank the Lord!
Since I am now 28 weeks pregnant my doctor visits are now biweekly until I get to 36 weeks, when they will be weekly until the baby arrives!  According to my pregnancy book baby now weighs 2 and a quarter pounds and is roughly 14.8 inches from head to heal!  Baby can now blink his eyes and has eye lashes!!! So amazing!  Next appointment is Dec. 2nd! So excited that Baby is getting closer and closer to arrival!

A Working Progress! November 16, 2010

We have been working on our property where the house will go for the last month or so.  Jon's dad cleared off all of the brush and trees we didn't want as well as an old little shed and it looks amazing!  Really made a difference in the property!  We had gravel poured starting from the end of Jared and Lindsay's driveway back to where our house will be so we now have a cleared lot and a driveway!  We also changed our address, bought a mailbox and put it up!  We aren't going to start building until spring but it's exciting to already see some progress!

Our first purchase for our new home!  A mailbox!

Our mailbox is up!  1856 State Route 1835 Slaughters is our new address!

Jon working hard spreading the gravel for our driveway!

This will be the view from our front porch!

This is pulling into where our house will sit!

Whoa Belly! November 9, 2010

This is actually me at 28 weeks.  I'm terrible at keeping updated on belly pics!

I am now 26 ½ weeks along!  WOW, my belly is getting huge!  People at work are actually starting to say they can see the “bump” now and that they can tell I’m pregnant now!  I've heard for months, "You don't even look pregnant" so it's almost refreshing to hear people say they can tell now!  At least I don't just feel fat now and you can actually tell that I've gained weight for a good reason!

According to my pregnancy book Baby Jameson is about the size of a English hothouse cucumber (from heel to head) and weighs about 1 pound and 12 oz.  He can hear me and Daddy talking and he's inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid which helps lung development!  How neat!

Bumper, Valance, Sheet, and Diaper Holder!

Noah and Friends!!!!!  I loved the mixture of colors with the brown, light green, blue, burnt orange, deep red, tan, pale yellow, etc!  The lighting is a little weird in the picture so the colors might not be exact!

Also, Baby Jameson's bedding has arrived!  It's "Noah and Friends" by Cicalo and it's adorable if I do say so myself!  We are probably going to paint the nursery "white raisin" at Mom and Dad's which is a light yellow.  Mom wants to keep the walls neutral in the nursery at her house so that when we move out she doesn't have to repaint in the future if a little girl finally comes along!  We will probably paint the nursery a sage green color in our new home!

Are You Ready for Some Football!?!?! November 1, 2010

Baby Jameson got Daddy Colts tickets for his birthday in September so we headed to Indy today to watch the Colts take on the Houston Texans at Monday Night Football!  We stayed at the Staybridge Suites which was less than a quarter of a mile from Lucas Oil stadium so we were able to walk to the game.  We had an amazing time and Jon was so excited that Jameson got to go to his first Colts game!  Our hotel was very nice and it was great to get away for the evening with my Husband since we've been living with my parents for a month now!  Oh, and the Colts won!  YAY!

Hocus Pocus! October 31, 2010

Halloween is one of my favorite Holidays!  Although I cannot bare to watch scary movies one of my all time favorites is "Hocus Pocus" which can always be seen on ABC Family around Halloween!  I love children dressing up and all of the creative costumes.  My mom just recently had surgery to replace a disk in her back so she didn't feel like doing much this Halloween, which is sad because she LOVES Halloween too!  For the past 3 Halloween's we have gathered at our house in Madisonville, dressed up and had a big meal and spent the night trick-or-treating and passing out candy.  Unfortunately, since we sold our house we couldn't do that this year :(   But, Mom was still under the weather anyway, so we decided to stay around the house, I made popcorn balls and we waited for Baby Jace to come over in his costume!  He was dressed as a dinosaur and he was absolutely perfect!
Jace with his "J" pumpkin I made him - cutest dinosaur ever!

A pumpkin for Baby!

Jameson Kicks For Nana! October 26, 2010

So my Mom (Nana or Nan) has been dying to feel Baby Jameson kick.  Since we now live with my parents she demanded that I let her know any time he moves!  At about 10:00 tonight we were laying in bed and Jameson started going crazy!  Being the lazy one that I am, I picked up my phone and called Mom on the other end of the house.  I said, "Hurry, he's kicking!"  She ran to our room and Jameson put on quite a show for her!  She was so excited!  The next day I noticed she had written on the calendar in the kitchen "Felt Baby Newton Kick".  How cute!

Baby Jameson has received lots of gifts already!  This is a picture I took about a month ago of some of his surprises!  There have been more added since, but I thought I would go ahead and share these!  Several are from Nana Linda and Grandma Ann, Aunt Lora Lee got him the Cow pacifier clip, Aunt Val got him a "I love Mommy" outfit, Aunt Lindsay got him the "World's most adorable Baby stare if you must" t-shirt, Jess and Hays (and Baby Brady) bought Jameson an adorable outfit (not pictured) and there is much more I need to add!  It's clear that Baby Jameson is going to be loved!  Thanks to everyone for the great gifts!

Jameson Kicks for Jess! October 22, 2010

We headed to Lexington for the weekend to celebrate Chase Wright and Ashley Woodruff's wedding!  Our great friends, Jess and Hays Browning offered their guest room to us so it was a great to spend the weekend with my fellow Expectant Mommy!  Jess is 6 weeks behind me and finds out next Thursday if she is having a boy or girl!
As the 4 of us were laying around that evening Baby Jameson became VERY active!  So active that Jess was able to touch my stomach and feel him kick instantly!  She was so excited she screamed!  It's still a little early for Baby Browning to be kicking so Jess was excited to feel what it's like!
The Mommy's-to-Be spent Saturday doing a little dress shopping for the wedding and since my belly had appeared out of nowhere in about 4 days, I had to buy my first maternity dress!  Yay!  I've just recently started wearing some maternity pants to work and I must say that they are AMAZING!  I'm not real sure that I will ever want to wear normal clothes again!
The wedding Saturday evening was beautiful and Chase and Ashley couldn't have seemed happier!  It was great to see tons of my sorority sisters and spend the night with my best friends!  Sunday morning Jess, Hays, Amy, Nick, Lauren, Jon and I went to Ramsey's for lunch and then we headed back to WKY.  What a great weekend!

Meagan, Jess, Me, Lora, Amy and Herde at the wedding!

Me and the Hubs at the reception!

Flu Shot, Ouch! October 20, 2010

Today was the dreaded Flu shot!  I hate needles probably more than anything so I was not looking forward to today's visit!  I think the one positive was that I got to have another ultrasound today!  Last month they weren't able to get all of the measurements needed on the baby including the full spine and certain views of the heart (which apparently happens frequently due to baby activity during the ultrasound) so we got to have another ultrasound this month!  I love them more than anything and wasn't opposed to seeing our precious Baby Jameson again!  (We are now calling him Baby Jameson although we haven't finalized a name yet!)  Today Baby weighed 1 pound and 7 oz which is quite a jump from 11 oz last month!
They were able to get the rest of the measurements today and everything looked perfect!  Baby Jameson is in the 60th percentile which means if you lined up 100 babies, our baby would be baby number 60, which means he is right in the middle and just PERFECT!  I gained 3 pounds this month which brings my total pregnancy weight gain to 4 pounds!  Jon is not thrilled about this and feels like it should be more, but I told him to just wait until December and January!

Don't Cry For Me! October 13, 2010

Kitchen right after we got our new tile floors!

Farewell 615 Wimbledon Place!  You will be missed!

We officially turned over the keys to our home tonight.  There is no going back, it's really someone else's home now!  Tonight as Jon, Mom and I drove away with a few final boxes I cried and cried and cried.  As I've been saying, I know this is going to be a great move but goodbye is never easy.  There will always be a special place in my heart for the first home Jon and I shared together.  Here's to 615 Wimbledon Place and the MANY wonderful memories we made (including Baby Newton!).  It's been a great 3 years!

Moving On! October 9, 2010

We. Moved. Out. Of. Our. Home. Today.  WOW, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write!  We’ve been on fall break all week packing up everything and today my family came and moved everything out of the house.  Tonight was our first night living with my parents.  I haven’t cried yet because we don’t officially turn over the keys until Thursday, but it’s been quite an eventful day!

Eventful Day! September 30, 2010

Well, we signed the papers to close on the sale of our first home today L  Very somber day.  We are looking forward to building a new home and making new memories, but it is still VERY hard to walk away from our first home together.  We now have 15 days to get everything moved out.
Immediately after the signing, Jon left for Nebraska for a 6 day hunting trip with his Dad, so it’s been a rough evening for me.  I am going to Mom and Dad’s for the next few days so that I won’t be alone.  Fall Break begins next week, so there will be a lot of packing in store for us!

Jon sent this picture from Nebraska while he was hunting and said he could bring a pony home for our  baby boy!

Daddy feels Baby Boy!!! September 28, 2010

Another exciting day in the Newton household!  Jon felt Baby Boy kick today!  He was soooooo excited!  His eyes lit up and he smiled from ear to ear!  He talks to baby every night and whispers things to him like they are really having conversations and it’s so cute!  He says things like, “Baby boy, we are going to play basketball and go hunting all the time”.  And then when I say, “When does Mommy get to spend time with Baby Boy?”  He will whisper to baby, “We won’t tell her that you will be my little buddy”.  He is so precious and I am thankful everyday that God gave me a wonderful Husband to share this amazing gift with!!!!

Happy Anniversary Hubby, I got you a BABY BOY!!!!! September 22, 2010

My SWEET Husband sent me flowers to work today!  He's so excited to find out the gender of our baby on our anniversary!!!

Happy 3 Year Anniversary to My AMAZING HUSBAND!!!!!!  You are my best friend, my soul mate, my first love, my only love!  I couldn’t be more excited about our future and spending the rest of my life making a family with you!!!!  I love you Jon Newton (aka Baby Daddy)!!!!!
SOOOOO, today was the BIG day!  GENDER ULTRASOUND!!!!!  What an exciting anniversary gift!  Today we found out that Baby Newton is a BOY!!!!!!!  We were honestly kind of expecting to hear this since Patti had already told us that she was leaning towards a boy, but nonetheless it was great to actually hear it OFFICIALLY!!!  I don’t think I have ever seen my husband more excited about something in my life!  He was so precious when they said “BOY” and I love that he has been so amazing through this entire pregnancy.  He has been so supportive, helpful/compassionate (ugh, the first trimester was rough), and excited about every part of this baby.  I’m so thankful for that because in my profession I frequently see fathers who have nothing or little to do with their children and it breaks my heart.  I know that Jon couldn’t be more excited and he will be the BEST DAD ever!  He has already started planning all the great things he will do with his son!
During the ultrasound today they also had to get all kinds of measurements on baby.  The spine, heart, head, limbs, lungs, etc.  He was quite the active little fella so they weren't able to get all views of his heart and spine, but Dr. Ott assures us that there is nothing to worry about as this happens frequently.  All other views they did get looked great so we come back in a month for another ultrasound to get the remaining pictures.  Today baby weighed 11 ozs!  We could see his toes and fingers and he almost always has his hand by his face!  I wonder if this means he is going to be shy or if he's just sleepy and likes covering his face!
So, it’s a boy, let the name game begin!  I know this is going to be a long process since I usually can’t even decide what to order off a menu for dinner!  But, we have a few possibilities at this point:
Jameson (after both of our grandfather’s James), Colt, Dax, Jax, Tucker (Tuck for short), and Kase.
Tonight I felt Baby move and could actually tell what it was!  Since this is my first pregnancy I wasn’t real sure what qualified as movement!  I’ve felt a few rumbles that possibly could have been movement but tonight I am SURE it was him!  What an exciting day it has been!  A great anniversary, a baby boy, and the baby moved!  Thank you God for your many precious gifts!!!

Mom made us bring "It's a Boy and It's a Girl" signs for pictures!  It's a Boy won!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!

Our first purchase for BABY BOY!  We went straight to the mall after the ultrasound and I found this adorable onesie at Old Navy while Jon was returning some pants to another store.  When I met back with him and pulled it out of the bag and said "Baby Boy's first outfit" he grinned from ear to ear and said "It's perfect!!!!"

Gender Ultrasound is SET! September 1, 2010

Another doctor’s visit today!  I am currently 16 weeks and 4 days!  Dr. Ott did an exam today and said that baby is measuring right on track!  February 11th is still the magic number!  She talked to us about genetic testing for the baby today.  We decided not to take the tests.  We know that we will LOVE baby Newton no matter what happens and regardless of what the tests say so there is no reason to worry through the rest of the pregnancy.  Our doctor was completely ok with this and said that since we are both healthy and have no family history of disease or genetic disorders we shouldn’t worry about anything.  At this point I have gained 1 pound!  I’m assuming this is because I was pretty sick during the 1st trimester and didn’t feel like eating anything!  No fear, I’m sure the weight gain will come soon!  I have a small baby bump at this point, but people still can’t tell that I’m pregnant!  Our GENDER ULTRASOUND and next doctor’s appointment was coincidentally scheduled for SEPTEMBER 22nd!  This is VERY exciting because it will be mine and Jon’s 3 year anniversary!!!  We thought it was pretty neat that it was the date the doctor chose so we have decided to wait until then to find out the big news….BOY or GIRL????  Stay tuned until September 22nd!!!!

Happy 27th Birthday to my Baby Daddy on September 10th!  You don't know it yet but Baby Newton got you COLTS tickets!  Yay!

Where the WIND Blows! August 30, 2010

All you see when you look across the fields are windmills!  It's amazing!

We got to see one close up!
What a great weekend I had with 3 of my BEST FRIENDS!  Val’s house is beautiful and we were completely amazed by the amount of windmills in the area!  I’m not exaggerating when I say they are EVERYWHERE!!!  We enjoyed LOTS of homemade meals by Val, pedicures, jewelry shopping and hanging out on the patio!  On a pregnancy note, let’s just say that Saturday morning Val’s bathroom saw about everything it could see between me throwing up, Meagan showering and Lora brushing her teeth all at one time!  It was quite an eventful morning!  Nonetheless, we had a great weekend together!  Love my girls!
On a much more solemn note, we signed the contract on the sale of our home today.  We now have 30 days until closing and an additional 15 days to be out.  That means that within 45 days we will be homeless L  We have loved our first home dearly and have put lots of love in to it so it is very hard to let it go.  But, every ending means a new beginning and we are very excited about building a new home on my family farm where we will be within ½ mile of both my parents and Jon’s parents.  Our family has always been very important to us and we want them to be as big of a part in our children’s lives as they have been in ours’.   Here’s to new beginnings!

Bring Out the Boxes and Masking Tape! August 24, 2010

Well, we accepted an offer on our home today!  There, I said it, as hard as it was!  Lots of tears followed, but we decided we would put it on the market and see what happens and for some reason God’s plan was for our home to sell in just 7 days!  I know he has great plans for us to be back home, so that is what keeps my head held up for now.  Lots of memories have been made in this home in 3 short years!  But we know many new ones are left to be made in our future home!  Here is a picture of the new home we plan to build back home!  The thought of sitting on the front porch of this new home watching my Baby play in the country yard is enough to bring tears to my eyes!

We Have An Offer! August 23, 2010

We had our first house showing tonight and it went very well.  A single mother came and viewed the house and loved it.  She said she loved the paint colors, the cleanliness, and all of the updates we had done.  Thank goodness because there have been SEVERAL paychecks put in to making our home just what we wanted!  I think it’s pretty perfect myself, but of course I would be partial to it!  Jon and I decided to celebrate by going to dinner at the newly opened Oasis Southwest Grill in Madisonville.  While eating dinner, my cell phone rang.  To my surprise, it was the woman who had viewed our house 2 short hours before wanting to make an offer!  I couldn’t believe it!  Our house has been on the market (for sale by owner, at that) for 7 days!  Lots to talk about tonight and with our banker tomorrow!

Peek-A-Boo, we can't see you! August 20, 2010

You can see Baby Newton's Spine!
We went to Mom’s work today to take a peek at Baby Newton!  I am 15 weeks and we thought we might be able to tell the gender of baby today.  Patti looked and we immediately thought we could see “boy parts” but after a few minutes she also said that there was still the possibility of a girl.  Since it was still so early, Baby Newton wasn’t developed enough to share with us his/her gender yet!  So we left a little disappointed, but nonetheless, happy that we were able to see our baby again and hear the heartbeat!  Still strong and healthy, which is always the most important!  We also thought it was really neat that you can now see Baby Newton's spine!  How amazing!!!!  This little person is actually inside me right now!

There's No Place Like Home! August 16, 2010

Well, it’s official.  After much debate our house is on the market!  Jon posted the sign this morning.  I have a knot in my stomach but I know God will do what is best for us and our family.  If it sells, then I guess it is a sign!

Well, Hello 2nd Trimester! August 6, 2010

HELLLOOOOO 2nd trimester!  I’m so happy to see you!  And, Hello new school year as well!  We started back to school on Tuesday and this year I am in a new building!  I transferred to Sebree Elementary to be with the little kids, but I still have the same title as Special Education Teacher.  Jon stayed at the high school so I think my biggest adjustment will be riding alone to school and not eating lunch with him!  I will definitely miss him, but I think the elementary setting will be the place for me!  I love my new boss and coworkers already!
I’m still getting sick a lot but I am not as tired anymore.  Hopefully, that is a sign of good things ahead! I'm also hoping that getting back into the work routine will help me out as well.  Being off all summer (and during my entire pregnancy thus far) has spoiled me!  I've been able to stop and take a nap any time I feel the need, so starting back to work will definitely put an end to that!  I know these little ones will be full of energy and keep me on my toes!

New Name Tag for a New School!

Rounding 1st Base! August 2, 2010

Our second doctor’s visit was today!  Unfortunately, Dr. Ott had 2 patients in delivery during our appointment today so we had to see a different OBGYN in the office today.  His name was Dr. Mann and he was very nice.  Things are still going great!  I am currently 12 weeks, 3 days so we are rounding 1st base and headed for the 2nd trimester!  Today’s visit was brief.  We just talked to the fill-in doctor, told him any concerns we had, and asked more questions about what is ok during pregnancy!  A little scary at first because he couldn’t find the heartbeat, but on the 3rd try, there it was! He said hearing a vital heartbeat after 12 weeks means there is a 95% chance that we WON'T miscarry so we were relieved to hear that news!  I have still been getting sick and I am very tired at this point.  The doctor said that this will hopefully change during the 2nd trimester (which begins in 4 days, YAY)!  Let’s hope so!  No weight gain yet, but we think we see a baby bump, some days! HAHA!   Next doctor’s visit is September 1st!

1st Ultrasound at Deaconess! July 15, 2010

Our 1st ultrasound at Deaconess!  We got some really good pictures of baby Newton and it was amazing to spend 20 minutes watching him/her on the screen!  Hearing the heartbeat is one of the most amazing things ever!  The heart rate was 165 today!  Jon is convinced it’s a girl because old wives’ tales say higher heart rates mean girl.  We will see!  According to the ultrasound my due date is now February 11th!  I am 9 weeks and 5 days!  I still haven’t been feeling too well.  I am getting sick daily in the morning and night.  It’s becoming miserable and I’ve warned Jon that this could be the 1st and last baby!  HAHA, I’m sure that isn’t true though!  I know he/she will be worth every minute!

You can actually see where his/her arms and legs are beginning to form!  How exciting!

Hello Baby Doctor!!!! July 7, 2010

We met our Baby Doctor today!  Dr. Elizabeth Ott is absolutely amazing!!!  She was so informative and didn’t seem rushed to get to another patient.  She made us feel important by giving us all of her time and attention!  We love her already!  She listened to the baby’s heart on the hand held monitor and said everything looked great and I am currently 8 weeks, 5 days!  She gave us the run down on what to eat and not eat and how to take care of myself and baby!  There is a lot to learn since this is my first time!  But she assured me that I was doing everything right so far and that both Mommy and Baby seemed healthy!  She scheduled an ultrasound for next week so that she can get an accurate due date!  Based on my cycle, the current due date is February 12th!  Great first doctor’s visit!!!  First ultrasound at Deaconess is scheduled for July 15th and our second doctor’s visit is scheduled for August 2nd!
I’ve still been pretty sick.  I enjoyed spending the weekend with friends at the Robey household, as well as with my family at the lake (although I was sick out on the boat as well as in the mornings).  My parents just bought a really nice trailer that they moved to their property at the lake so between boating there was a lot of work to be done around the camp.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t much help!  I did, however, do a great job of sitting and supervising between getting sick!  I’m sure my parents are grateful! HAHA!

Girls at the Robey 4th of July party!  Love them!

Uncle Jon and Jace at the Lake!

1st ULTRASOUND!!!! July 3, 2010

1st Ultrasound!!!! Not sure why it's turned sideways because it's saved straight!
We had our 1st ultrasound today!  Since my Mom is an X-Ray tech we have “connections”.  Her best friend Patti is an ultrasound tech and told us that if we came in after her patients she would take a look!  We got to see Baby Newton for the first time today and he/she looks like a little peanut!  We even got to hear the heart beating!  168 beats per minute which is perfect!  Simply amazing!  According to my due date calculator I am currently 8 weeks pregnant!  I have started feeling icky lately L  I’ve been getting sick at various points throughout the day and haven’t felt like eating much.  Let’s hope that changes soon!
We are headed to Lora Lee and Eli’s for a 4th of July party this evening, which promises to be much fun with great friends!  Can’t wait to show off our ultrasound pictures and hug my Best Friends!
Tomorrow morning we will head to the lake to spend the rest of the holiday weekend with my family!  Looking forward to some sun, boating and family time!  Happy 4th of July!

June 20, 2010
I'm a little behind on posting so I needed to make sure I added FATHER'S DAY!  Since Jon is now a Daddy-to-Be I just HAD to get him a gift!  I bought him some swimming trunks, a pregnancy book for Dads, and a bib for baby that says "If you think I'm cute you should see my Dad"!  We spent the day having lunch at my Aunt's with my Dad and his family and then headed to Jon's parents for dinner with his family.  This was the first time we had seen some of our aunts, uncles, and cousins since the BIG NEWS so everyone was very excited to congratulate us!

Telling our BEST FRIENDS!!!! June 10, 2010

Well, we figured now that our parents know we could go ahead and tell our closest friends!  I sent a text to my friends and said “Hey, I have a question for you, call me when you can.”  I knew if I said anything else it would give the secret away and I wanted to tell them over the phone!  I received phone calls from each of them throughout the day and proceeded to ask if they were ready to be AUNTS!  They were all so excited and couldn’t believe the news!  Jon sent all of his best friends messages and they were all equally excited for us as well!  So the news is spreading like wildfire now!  We are still being very cautious though because it’s still early and anything can happen, but we couldn’t be more excited to share our BIG NEWS!

Doctor confirms...WE ARE PREGNANT!!!!! June 9, 2010

We went to our first doctor’s appointment today!  Since we were leery about telling more people before we had confirmed the positive test with a doctor we went ahead and scheduled an appointment with an OBGYN at Madisonville just for reassurance.  Since I was only about 5 weeks at this point, there wasn’t much they could do.  They did, however, confirm what we wanted to hear….WE ARE PREGNANT!  We had already decided when we got pregnant that we would go to Deaconess Women’s Center in Evansville for prenatal care and delivery so immediately following our "confirmation appointment" at Madisonville, we called and set up an appointment with an OBGYN at the Women's Center.  Our doctor would be Dr. Elizabeth Ott and we would meet her on July 7th!!!  According to my due date calculator online, baby Newton should arrive on February 12th!
After our doctor’s appointment we headed to tell Jon’s parents the big news!  He walked in and gave his Mom the poem.  She read for what seemed like 30 minutes (all while Jon's Dad enters and leaves the room 100 times doing different things and I was about to die because I thought he was going to miss the big announcement!) and finally looked up and said “Are you all having a baby?!?!?”  Jon said, “Yep!”  His Dad walked out of the other room and said “What is it?” and Ann said, “Jon and Carly and pregnant!”  Ronnie responded, “Alright!”  Ann immediately wanted to pick up her phone and call everyone, but we told her we wanted to wait a few more days.  Jon's sister Christy and our nephews Logan and Zane came down shortly after and we gave them an envelope to open with the poem from their new "neice/nephew/cousin".  They were very excited about the news and Zane looked at me and said, "I've always thought Zane was the perfect name, you can use it if you want!"  HAHA, too cute!
Later that evening we were having a family dinner at Cracker Barrel for Grandma Liz’s birthday.  We decided we were going to tell Grandma Liz, Aunt Lea and Uncle Greg, and Jill and Dowen and their kids.  We made poems for each of them, changing the “grandchild” sentence to the appropriate title for them (niece/nephew, cousin, great grandchild).  After we had ordered our meal I pulled the envelopes out of my purse.  We passed each family an envelope and let them begin reading.  Jill, Lea Ann and Grandma all started crying and screaming!  They were so excited!  Grandma Liz said, “So I’m going to have another one!”  She gave me a hug and said, “Papaw would have been so excited!”  Which of course made me cry!
So there we have it!  Both sets of Grandparents know and some aunts, uncles and cousins! Everyone is SUPER excited about the new addition to our family!  We know Baby Newton will be sooooo blessed to have them in his/her life!
